* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with preferable coursework in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Urban studies, or a related field;
* Four (4) years increasingly responsible urban planning experience to include one (1) year of supervisory or lead work experience;
* This position requires a valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License or obtain a valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License within thirty (30) days after becoming a resident of the State of Texas;

Preferred Qualifications
* Masters Degree in Planning, Historic Preservation, Architecture or related field;
* Employment experience in historic preservation, architecture, or planning; local government experience preferred;
* Working knowledge of historic preservation practices, principles and laws;
* Ability to perceive potential problems and provide solutions;
* Ability to research, collect data from various sources, apply planning concepts, interpret and summarize results for reporting and/or development of recommendations and policies;
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
* Skill in the use of computer and database software;
* Spanish speaking a plus.
